The Gender Equality Index UK (GEIUK) offers a pioneering data tool to measure and map women’s and men’s socioeconomic outcomes across local authorities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Drawing on existing data from 2021 to 2023, it captures 19 outcomes in six key domains: Paid Work, Unpaid Work, Money, Power & Participation, Education and Health.
The GEIUK captures both gender gaps as well as differences among women and men, respectively, using three complementary measures.

The data was collected following four principles:
1. The data must be sex-disaggregated;
2. The data are measured at the ‘Local Authority District’ (LAD) level;
3. The data cover all four UK nations;
4. The data are recent and published after 2020.
Though most of the data collected are available at the LAD level, some are only available at the regional level or Unitary Local Authority, which are higher than the LAD level.
