This data deposit comprises two Microsoft Excel files: 1) Public_Petitions_1780-1832; 2) Public_Petitions_1833-1918.

DATA PROCESSING NOTES

The data was collected from two sources: 1) for 1780-1832, PDFs of original hard copies of the Journals of the House of Commons, accessed from ProQuest's Parliamentary Papers database; 
2) 1833-1918, hard copies of the Reports of the Select Commmittee on Public Petitions, held by the Institute of Historical Research and the Parliamentary Archives. The data was inputted into Microsoft Excel files; 
hence, the data remains in its original format and has not been reprocessed into a different format.
