Data from PopChange project, 9/3/2018 The grid data are sorted by category and year, e.g. \age\1971. Categories are age, country of birth, ethnicity, general health, limiting long term illness, total population, Townsend deprivation index. Each ASCII GRID is in BNG coordinate system. The variables are detailed in the file PopChangeSummary.csv (in rootfiles). The file GridWardLANation.csv is a complete list of populated grid cells (with populations for 1971-2011) which links to the 2011 Census ward, local authority, and region/nation into which each cell centroid falls. Note that the population base varies between Censuses: in 1971 it was population present and in 2011 it was usually resident. The correct files to use for each Census year to ensure consistency with analyses using other variables are as follows (each file is in the 'total-population' directory under the relevant year): 1971: PBPres 1981: TP81Bs 1991: TP91Bs 2001: UsRsPopA 2011: URPopAll For full details of the PopChange resource see: Lloyd, C.
