ReadMe Quantitative data This constitutes an SPSS spreadsheet which contains all of the quantitative data that were collected on 1,857 children. This includes family background information (mother and father education, occupations, dwelling information etc), data about the child (age, gender, number of siblings etc.), test scores and thoughts around giftedness. Data is also included about their teacher (age, gender, qualifications etc) and their school (size, fees, facilities etc.). This data houses the pupil, teacher, household and school questionnaires. Variable information for SPSS file This is a list of the SPSS variables, their coding as well as their description as in the SPSS file. Questionnaires There are four questionnaires contained in this zip file: Household, pupil, school and teacher questionnaires. These questionnaires reflect what is contained within the SPSS spreadsheet. Consent forms This is the consent forms used for the parent and the pupils regarding participation. Teacher interviews This folder contains 24 interviews carried out with teachers from the government primary schools that participated in the project. The interview schedule document contains information regarding when these interviews took place. These interviews were carried out as the children were undertaking their surveys. Methods collection The way the data were collected is set out here. Interview schedule This is the semi structured interview used to collect the teacher interviews. This is obviously a springboard that was used and in some cases the interview takes a slightly different direction owing to certain answers given by the teachers. Data Listing The data listing shows an excel spreadsheet giving information on the 24 teachers that took part in the interview process, including dates of interview, length in pages, gender, age. This connects with the interview schedule and the teacher interviews.
