File: ESRC_ESI031022_2_facepref.xlsx Description: The data from participant face preferences for the cross-sectional (CP1) and longitudinal (CP2) projects. All face preferences are scores as the percentage of 10 face pairs on which the participant chose the healthier/more dimorphic/more symmetric/more average face. Contact lisa.debruine@glasgow.ac.uk for access to the stimuli for these face preference tests; we do not have ethical approval to post these face stimuli in a data archive. Relation between files: Participant numbers are anonymised and there is no overlap in participants between the two projects (CP1 and CP2). Column headings: Sheet 1 (CP1): Each row contains data for one participant couple number - anonymised ID number for each romantic couple participant sex - participant sex as male or female participant age - participant age in years f_health - percent preference (0 to 100) of the healthier face for female faces m_health - percent preference (0 to 100) of the healthier face for male faces f_sexdim - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more sexually dimorphic (feminine) face for female faces m_sexdim - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more sexually dimorphic (masculine) face for male faces f_symmetry - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more symmetric face for female faces m_symmetry - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more symmetric face for male faces f_avgerageness - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more average face for female faces m_avgerageness - percent preference (0 to 100) of the more average face for male faces Sheet 2 (CP2): Each row contains data for one participant All column headers the same as above. f_health2, m_health2, f_sexdim2, m_sexdim2, f_symmetry2, m_symmetry2, f_avgerageness2, and m_avgerageness2 are the same scores taken at a second test session 3+ months later. “N/A” is used for missing data where participants did not attend the second test session.
