These data are from the ESRC/DFID funded REDEGN project - Rethinking Environment and Development in an Era of Global Norms: An Exploration of Forests and Water in Nepal, Sudan and Uganda that investigated impacts of hydropower and REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) projects in these countries. More specifically, the data contained here are from the household surveys in two sites in Lamjung district of Nepal (Bhulbhule where the focus is on exploring impact of hydropower development on local livelihoods and Khasur village where the focus is on exploring impact of REDD+ project) and Merowe Dam in Sudan (focusing on impact of hydropower development). The data folder named ‘Household_Data_Nepal_Sundan’ consists of the following 7 documents: 1) Information_sheet_consent_form.doc provides general information about the research and consent form that was used during data collection in Merowe dam in Sudan and two sites in Nepal (Bhulbhule and Khasur in Lamjung district). (2) Nepal_Questionnaire_Bhulbhule.pdf contains questions that were used for a household survey in Bhulbhule village to investigate impacts of hydropower development on local livelihoods. (3) Nepal_Questionnaire_Khasur.pdf contains questions that were used for a household survey in Khasur village to investigate impacts of REDD+ project on local livelihoods. (4) Sudan_Questionnaire_Merowe.docx contains questions that were used for a household survey in Merowe dam to investigate impacts of hydropower development. (5) Household_Data_Merowe_Sudan.xlsx summarises household data in Merowe, Sudan. Sheets 1-5 represent one of the four locations (Household Survey Data New Amri, Household Survey Data Manasir, Household Survey Data New Hamdad, Household Survey Data Makabrab, and Data Coding used). There are a total of 200 respondents (50 from each site and 50% are female). The data is disaggregated by gender as well. There were 20 questions on the survey with a ranking system of 1 to 5 for each question, represented as percentages (with a total value of 100) answered in each category. (6) Household_Data_Bhulbhule_Nepal.xls contains results from the household survey in Bhulbhule village. * Open the excel file The excel file consist of 3 sheets (1) Household Survey Data sheet in which the information from questionnaire are filled (2) Data Coding used (3) Additional Information on the subjective questions of each respondents.
